Vela Diagnostics’s Sentosa® SQ HCV Genotyping Assays shown 100% clinical accuracy and sensitivity

Singapore (November 30, 2015) – In a recent clinical study conducted at Dept of Laboratory Medicine, NUHS, the Sentosa® SQ HCV Genotyping Assay was shown to have 100% clinical sensitivity and accuracy. The study was conducted with 164 clinical samples in serum and plasma, using VERSANT® HCV Genotyping 2.0 Assay and Sanger Sequencing as reference methods.  The study results were presented at the meeting of the "American Association for the Study of the Liver” (also known as AASLD or “The Liver Meeting”), held from November 13th to 17th 2015. This meeting is considered the most important yearly event for hepatologists globally.

The Sentosa® SQ HCV Genotyping Assay was launched January this year for Research Use Only. This assay detects genotypes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and subtypes 1a and 1b; it also reports variants in clinically relevant regions of NS3, NS5A and NS5B genes to allow drug resistance assessment. The Sentosa® SQ HCV Genotyping Assay has a Limit of Detection of 1000 IU/mL for genotypes 1 (including 1a and 1b), 2, 3 and 4, and 2000 IU/mL for genotypes 5 and 6.

The Sentosa® NGS workflow starts with Sentosa® SX101 which automates nucleic acid extraction and library preparation. Together with Sentosa® ST401 for template preparation, Sentosa® SQ301 for sequencing and Sentosa® SQ Reporter for data analysis and reporting, the Sentosa® NGS workflow offers an integrated solution from sample to result in approximately 2 days with hands-on time of less than 2.5 hours. This workflow also offers seamless LIS/LIMS connectivity on a user-friendly interface through Sentosa® Link.
